Dordt defeats Midland 10-2

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Dordt Defender baseball team took advantage of three Midland errors and earned a 10-2 win over the hosts in game one of their doubleheader in Midland on Monday, March 27.  The game was re-scheduled from Friday, March 24.

Dordt pushed two runs across in the fourth inning courtesy one hit an error, a base on balls and a passed ball. Colton Van Otterloo grounded out with Cam Gingerich scoring from third on the play after initially reaching with a base hit. A Zach Fowler sacrifice fly added  a second run.

A six run fifth inning put Dordt firmly in control with Chris Schrieber singling in two runs and Van Otterloo also had a two-run single.  Fowler also walked with the bases loaded for a run and Taylor Neuroth also had a single in the inning that made it 8-0.

Trent Roose delivered a two-run single in the sixth and Midland got their two runs in the bottom of the inning to make the final 10-2.

THE NUMBERS

Connor Hopkins improved to 4-0 this season with two runs allowed on three hits and he struck out five and walked three with two earned runs allowed.

Taylor Neuroth had two hits and a run batted in.

Colton Van Otterloo and Trent Roose also had two hits with Van Otterloo knocking in two runs.

Jake Thayer scored three runs and was walked twice.
