Dordt defeats Waldorf 7-4
How it Happened
Dordt College never trailed in winning its only game on Thursday, March 8 in Tucson, Arizona against Waldorf.
Dordt scored three runs in the first inning with Josh Van Eps knocking in two runs with a single. The Defenders allowed two runs in the bottom of the inning and then came back with another run in the second frame with Taylor Neuroth knocking in Jacob Monsma after Monsma had tripled with one out.
Andrew Randall scored a run for Dordt in the sixth inning when Cam Gingerich lifted a sacrifice fly to the outfield and Dordt tacked on two more runs in the top of the ninth for insurance and held on to win 7-4.
Dordt outhit Waldorf in the scheduled nine inning game 16-10.
Connor Hopkins got the win with five innings of work and he allowed three runs with seven strikeouts and two bases on balls.
Luke Drooger pitched four innings and was charged with a run with four strikeouts and four bases on balls. Drooger recorded the save.
Trent Roose and Andrew Randall each had three hits.
Taylor Neuroth, Colton Van Otterloo, Josh Van Eps and Jacob Monsma all had two hits. Monsma’s hits were a double and a triple.
