Sterling defeats Dordt 5-2
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dordt College was on the short end of a 5-2 decision with Sterling in game two of the doubleheader in Sterling on Saturday, February 18. The game was the fourth the two teams played in two days.
Dordt got its runs in the third and sixth and tied the game 2-2 with the run in the top of the sixth. Sterling scored three in the bottom of the inning to secure the 5-2 win.
A comprehensive play by play summary of the game was not available late Saturday night.
-Jake Thayer had a single and a run scored.
-Zach Fowler had a homerun and Colton Van Otterloo knocked in Thayer with a single.
-Fowler’s homerun was Dordt’s lone extra base hit.
-Dordt was outhit 8-6.
-Brandon Fokkema started the game on the mound and allowed two runs on six hits with three walks and two strikeouts.
-Chris Schrieber was charged with the loss and allowed two runs in the sixth inning.
-Dordt is 0-4 while Sterling improves to 11-1.
Dordt will play its next game on March 4 at Tucson, Arizona against William Penn.
