THE RACE

The Dordt College men raced to a second place team finish at the GPAC Championships in Hastings on Saturday, November 5.  The Defenders totaled 69 points and had their highest finish at the GPAC Championships since a runner-up finish in 2011.

Northwestern won the race with 34 points and Morningside claimed third with 80 points on the 8,000 meter course.

NOTES

-Drake’s second place finish is the best for a Defender male runner at the GPAC Championships.

-Nick Vander Kooi earned all-GPAC notice for the third time with his third top-10 finish in his career as he ran 7th.  Vander Kooi had Dordt’s previous best individual finish with a fourth place time in 2013.

-The second place finish was a four spot improvement as a team from last year’s result.

-Will Norris from Northwestern won the race in 24:35 and led the Raiders as the champions had five runners in the top-10.

-89 runners and ten teams made up the GPAC field.

-Dordt awaits a potential at-large berth to the NAIA National Meet to be held on November 19.  The field will be announced on Monday, November 7.
