Dordt def. College of Saint Mary 3-0 (25-14, 25-13, 25-11)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dordt College controlled it’s match with the College of Saint Mary Flames on Friday afternoon, October 7, in taking a 3-0 win in the GPAC match.
The Defeders pulled away from a 5-5 tie to lead 11-8 and after a ball handling error, reeled off six points in a row to lead 17-9 capping the run with a pair of Ema Altena kills. Dordt was not challenged the rest of the set in winning 25-15.
Set two was tight to a 10-10 and featured six ties up to that point. A Haley Moss kill put Dordt up 11-10 and Brooke Granstra served eight straight points for the Defenders. Dordt went on to win the set 25-13 and made short work of set three in winning 25-11.
-Dordt had a .434 kill efficiency in the match including a .556 kill efficiency in set one and a .500 percentage in set three. The Defenders had just six total attack errors in the match and four of those came in set two.
-Julie Lindbergh had 12 kills.
-Haley Moss had eight kills and Ema Altena had seven kills, seven digs and two ace serves.
-Brooke Granstra had five kills and seven digs with one solo block and two block assists.
-Elizabeth Kiel had a solo block and two block assists.
-Jamie Gesink put up 28 assists and had six digs with four kills.
-Jill Schouten recorded seven digs.
-Dordt had six points on blocks and the Flames had three.
-The Defenders totaled service aces and did not commit a serve receive error.
