Dakota Wesleyan defeats Dordt 80-48
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dakota Wesleyan controlled most of the contest on the way to an 80-48 win over the Dordt Defenders in women’s basketball on Wednesday night, November 16 in Sioux Center.
The Defenders trailed 18-15 after one quarter and were down 40-26 at halftime.
The Defenders got within nine briefly in the third quarter but were down 55-37 after three quarters and were outscored 25-11 in the fourth quarter.
-Dordt converted 19-51 shots from the floor for 37.3 percent while Wesleyan was 29-60 from the field for 48.3 percent success.
-Dordt was led by Annie Rhinesmith with 12 points and Rachel Evavold had 11. Payton Harmsen scored nine and Kim Kroeze added eight with three assists.
-Rhinesmith had a game high six assists and Evavold had six rebounds.
-The Defenders committed 22 turnovers while Wesleyan had 15.
-Wesleyan was led by Ashley Bray with 20 points and eight rebounds. Kristin Sabers and Sarah Carr each had 18 points.
-Dordt is 5-2 this season and will play an exhibition game with Augustana in Sioux Falls on Friday night. Dordt returns to regular season play when it hosts Briar Cliff on Tuesday, November 22.
-Dakota Wesleyan goes to 7-0 this season.
