Dordt defeats Waldorf 65-59
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dordt struggled with Waldorf but earned a six point win over the Waldorf Warriors in Orange City at the Northwestern Classic on Saturday 65-59.
Dordt led much of the first half but the Warriors grabbed a two point lead with 4:38 left in the first half. The lead changed hands several times before an Alissa Floen basket with 12 seconds remaining for a 34-33 lead. Waldorf led by as many as six points midway through the third quarter but Dordt scored six unanswered on a three point basket by Paige Engbers, a two-point basket by Annie Rhinesmith and a free throw by Shae Pollema to tie it 47-47. The score was tied 49-49 at the end of the third quarter.
Dordt steadily built the lead up to eight points 64-56 with 3:09 left in the game after a Kim Kroeze basket and won the game 65-59.
THE NUMBERS
-Shae Pollema had 16 points and ten rebounds and Paige Engbers and Kenzie Bousema had ten points each. Kim Kroeze added nine points.
-Dordt outrebounded Waldorf 40-31 and converted 26-64 shots for 40.6 percent success and Waldorf was 21-49 for 42.9 percent success.
-Dordt committed 14 turnovers to 18 for the Warriors.
-Samantha Birkes led Waldorf with 16 points.
-This was the second time this week Dordt has faced Waldorf and Dordt swept the two meetings.

-Dordt is 5-1 and will host Dakota Wesleyan on Wednesday night.
