Dordt defeats Doane 95-85
HOW IT HAPPENED
A fast start by the Dordt College Defenders led to a 95-85 win at home over the Doane Tigers in GPAc play on Saturday afternoon in Sioux Center, Iowa.
The Defenders scored ten unanswered points to turn a 15-15 tie into a 25-15 advantage. Later in the half Marcus Winterfeld hit five three-point baskets from the 6:32 mark to the 3:00 mark to cap a seven-three point basket half and a 28 point outburst as Dordt led 54-36 at halftime.
Doane chipped away at the lead but got no closer than eight in the closing minute before Dordt won the contest 95-85.
-Marcus Winterfeld ended the game with 30 points on 10-17 shooting and he was 7-10 from the free throw line with 11 rebounds and three assists.
-Alex Terpstra scored 18 and was 4-9 from the three-point line.
-Alec Henrickson scored 15 points and Taylor Feenstra scored nine along with Josh Van Lingen. Van Lingen ended with eight rebounds.
-Andrew O’Donnell scored eight points and had seven rebounds with four assists and two steals.
-Dordt was 32-71 from the field with 12-24 three-point shooting.
-Dordt had a 46-35 rebounding advantage.
-Doane was topped by Nate Kuhl’s 23 points and eight rebounds.
-Dordt is 13-13 overall and 4-10 in the league and Doane is 12-13 and 3-10.
-Dordt travels to Briar Cliff on Wednesday, February 1.
