Waldorf def. Dordt 84-80
HOW IT HAPPENED
A Dordt College rally fell short as the Waldorf Warriors turned away Dordt 84-80 in Forest City, Iowa on Tuesday night in non-conference play.
Dordt fell behind almost immediately and the Warriors took a 48-32 halftime lead.
A pair of free throws with 12:30 left in the game put the Warriors up 68-48 and the lead was still 19 with 10:16 left in the game 73-54. A Chad Barkema basket started a Dordt comeback that saw Dordt get two within 75-73 on a Dalton Franken three point play with 5:12 left in regulation. A Josh Van Lingen free throw pushed Dordt to within 77-76 and a Dalton Franken basket with 2:03 gave the Defenders their first lead of the second half.
Waldorf tied it on a free throw and the Warriors retook the lead 80-78 on a basket and a Dordt lay up on the other end followed by a foul allowed the Warriors to go up 82-78 and the Warriors eventually won by that four point margin 84-80.
-Franken led Dordt with 33 poitns and ten reboudnds.
-Alex Terpstra had 15 points and Taylor Feenstra had 11 points.
-Dordt was 25-65 from the field and 22-33 from the free throw line.
-Waldorf was 31-60 from the field and 18-24 from the free throw line.
-Waldorf had a 41-36 rebounding edge and committed ten turnovers to nine for the Defenders.
-Michael Morgan had 24 points.
-Dordt is 4-1 this season and will face Viterbo on Friday at 4:00 in Orange City.
