Dordt defeats Jamestown 108-84



Dordt fell behind the Jamestown Jimmies early in the first half but evened the score by halftime and controlled the second half on the way to a 24 point win in non-conference basketball.

Dordt surrendered 33 points in the first ten minutes of play and trailed 33-19 after a Jake Hagler three-point basket.  The Defenders started working against the lead with a pair of three-point baskets by Alec Henrickson and a two point basket by Andrew O’Donnell.  Henrickson had the hot hand as he knocked down a lay up with 3:46 to give Dordt its first lead of the contest at 43-41 and the Defenders and Jimmies were tied 50-50 at the intermission behind Henrickson’s 20 points.

Dordt trailed briefly in the second half but took the lead for good on a Leighton Sampson basket and O’Donnell followed with a three-point play.  A three-point basket by Dalton Franken gave Dordt a 73-63 lead with 13:24 remaining in the game and Jamestown got no closer than seven and the final 11:09 was played at a double digit difference as the Defenders won their fourth game in a row.



-Dordt was 38-64 from the field for 59.4 percent success and 24-30 from the free throw line.

-Jamestown was 30-62 from the field for 48 percent success but was limited to 11-28 second half shooting for 39 percent.

-Dordt had a 37-25 rebounding edge and forced 18 turnovers while giving up 13.

-Franken led all players with 25 points on 9-13 shooting and Henrickson made 9-14 shots including 4-8 three-point shots for 22 points.

-Marcus Winterfeld had 14 points on 5-5 field goals and 4-4 free throws and he had seven rebounds despite working with foul trouble.

-Taylor Feenstra added 12 and Andrew O’Donnell had ten points, eight rebounds and three assists. Josh Van Lingen came off the bench to score eight for Dordt.

-Jamestown was topped by JJ Griffin with 20 points and Jake Hagler added 15 on 6-9 shooting.

-Jamestown is 0-2 and Dordt is 4-0.  Dordt will play its fourth straight North Star Conference opponents on Tuesday, November 8 when it travels to Forest City to face Waldorf.
