HOW IT HAPPENED

Dordt stayed in control most of its match with Jamestown on Thursday evening at the De Witt Gym in Sioux Center and earned a non-conference win over the Jimmies 3-0.

Dordt started well with an 11-5 lead in set one only to have the Jimmies come back to tie the set at 13-13 with three straight Dordt attack errors allowing the Jimmies to put the pressure on.  The two teams were tied at 14 and 15 before Dordt scored three in a row on a kill by Julia Lindbergh and a pair of ball handling errors.  Jamestown again rebounded to tie the score at 21-21 and knotted it again at 22-22.  An Altena kill put the Defenders up for good and Brooke Granstra finished the set with a kill for a 25-23 win.

Dordt raced to an 11-2 lead in set two and the Jimmies never recovered as the Defenders led by no less than three the rest of the set and closed the set with a five point run and Haley Moss punctuated the run with a kill.

Jamestown led for the first time at the start of set three and was up 3-2 until a service error, an attack error and a Haley Moss and Elizabeth Kiel block put Dordt up 5-3 and Dordt never trailed again.  Dordt had the set under wraps 23-18 after a Julia Lindbergh kill but Jamestown rallied to tie it 23-23.  A Granstra kill put Dordt up 24-23 and an attack error by the Jimmies ended it, giving Dordt the 3-0 win.
