Dordt defeats Montana State Northern 3-0
HOW IT HAPPENED
There wasn’t much drama as Dordt defeated Montana State Northern 3-0 in a match at the Bruin Labor Day Classic in Bellevue, Nebraska on Friday, September 2.
The Defenders won set one 25-14 after leading 14-12. A five point run put the Defenders squarely in the driver’s seat and Dordt went on to win by 11 with Haley Moss finishing the set with a kill.
Set two saw the Defenders race out to a 4-0 lead and never looked back in building a 20-7 advantage behind four service aces by Julia Lindbergh in the streak. Dordt won by a handy 25-11 edge. The third set was closer but Dordt kept Northern at arm’s length in prevailing 25-20. Northern got no closer than four after cutting the edge to 15-12.
Dordt had a .293 kill efficiency with 47 kills.
Dordt accounted for 10 points with service aces and Lindbergh had six of them.
Lindbergh, Altena and Granstra all had 10 kills and Jamie Gesink had 37 assists.
Jill Schouten got to 17 digs and Granstra had 12 digs.
Dordt is 3-1 and will face nationally ranked MidAmerica Nazarene tonight at 7:00.

“Strong pay and gritty defense helped us throughout the match. Our servers had many runs of points and it was great to see that focus from them. Serve receive passing was also successful for us. I like how we came out in mentality and execution this match. We will need that against a strong MidAmerica Nazarene team this evening.”
