Dordt defeats Dakota State 3-0 (25-12, 25-14, 25-18)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dordt bounced back from an earlier loss to Bellevue and handled Dakota State 3-0 at the Red Raider Classic in Orange City on Friday. The Defenders ran away with the first set 25-12 after jumping out to an 11-3 lead and then won set two 25-14 after leading by 11 at 20-9.
Set three was the most competitive with the Defenders taking a 16-14 lead before going on a 6-1 run that ended with the 25-18 final.
-Dordt had just four attack errors in each of the first two sets and had kill efficiencies of .355 and .414.
-Dordt attacked at a .340 rate for the match with 46 kill, 13 errors and 97 total swings.
-Dakota State was limited to .069 kill efficiency and allowed eight service aces and had none of its own.
-Brooke Granstra had 19 kills and five errors on 29 attacks for a .483 kill efficiency.
-Julia Lindbergh added ten kills and Ema Altena had nine.
-Jamie Gesink had 33 assists and Altena five service aces.
-Both teams scored five points on blocks.
-Dordt is 1-1 and Dakota State falls to 0-3.
-Dordt plays two matches on Saturday at the Northwestern Red Raider Classic in Orange City. The Defenders face Lourdes (Ohio) at 11:00 and Baker (Kansas) at 3:00.
