HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt College Defender women’s volleyball team lost a 3-1 decision to the Bellevue Bruins on Friday afternoon at the Northwestern Red Raider Classic.
Dordt lost a tight decision in set one 26-24 and came back to soundly beat the Bruins in set two 25-14. The momentum swung back to the Bruins in set three with a 25-20 win and Bellevue rode that momentum to a 25-19 win in set four.
-Neither team attacked well in set one with Dordt getting 13 kills on 41 attacks for a .098 kill efficiency and Bellevue won the set despite a .071 kill efficiency with 11 kills son 42 attacks.
-Dordt dominated net play in set two with 15 kills against three errors and had a .429 kill efficiency. Dordt struggled in set four with ten kills and eight errors.
-For the match Dordt had a .170 kill efficiency while Bellevue had a .139 success rate.
-Dordt was unable to overcome 27 attack errors and 16 service errors.
-Brooke Granstra had 15 kills and 12 digs with six block assists.
-Ema Altena recorded ten kills and Julia Lindbergh had eight with Haley Moss and Elizabeth Kiel each recording seven.
-Jill Schouten led the team with 17 digs and Jamie Gesink had 16. Gesink also put up 45 assists and had two service aces.
-Dordt is 0-1 while Bellevue improves to 3-2. Dordt was no. 13 in the preseason poll and Bellevue was receiving votes.
