Dordt defeats Mount Marty 7-0
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dordt roared out early and took a 7-0 decision from Mount Marty in women’s college soccer on Wednesday afternoon in Sioux Center.
The Defenders got two quick goals from Kenzie Bousema and Natalie Sakuma less than a minute apart in the fifth minute to take the lead. Sakuma added two more goals in the 17th and 50th minutes on the way to hat trick and Raquelle Mouw added a pair of goals in the 63rd and 68th minutes. The last Mouw goal came off an assist by Jalissa De Haan. Freshman Rachel Zuidema scored shortly before the half to give the Defenders a 4-0 intermission advantage.
Dordt had a 16-0 shots on goal advantage and blistered Mount Marty for an overall shots advantage of 24-1.
Sakuma now has nine season goals and Mouw has eight.
Kenzie Bousema’s goal was her fifth of the season and De Haan’s assist was her third.
The Defenders improve to 5-4-1 with the win and are 1-1 in the GPAC.
Mount Marty is 0-4 overall and 0-2 in league play.
Dordt is off until Tuesday, October 4 when it travels to face Briar Cliff in Sioux City.

"After our Hastings game I wondered how the team would respond. I saw some good things on the field today. Some of our players who needed playing time received significant minutes and we don't always have that luxury."
