Dordt defeats Viterbo 5-0
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt College Defender men’s soccer team bounced back from a conference loss on Wednesday afternoon with a 5-0 win over Viterbo in Lacrosse, Wisconsin.
The Defenders got on the board with a Braden Homan goal in the 8th minute. The score stayed at 1-0 until the 31st minute when David Lee scored the first of two goals. Alex Durbin added a goal in the 44th minute on a penalty kick to make it 3-0 at halftime.
Lee added his second goal early in the second half and Stephen Brinkerhoff scored his first goal of the season on a Durbin assist in the 61st minute.
THE NUMBERS
-Dordt had a 20-8 overall shots edge and had a 12-2 shots on goal advantage.
-Travis Viet got the shutout in goal with two saves.
-Durbin’s goal was his 16th of the season.
-Lee now has five goals and Homan’s was his second.
-Brinkerhoff’s goal was his first of the season.
-Dordt is 4-7 and will face Ripon College on Friday in Waupun, Wisconsin. Viterbo is 1-7.
