Doane defeats Dordt 4-1
HOW IT HAPPENED
Doane scored two goals in the 27th and 32nd minutes and never trailed in taking a 4-1 decision from the Defenders on Saturday afternoon in Sioux Center.
Alex Durbin scored a goal off an assist by Nathan Struyk in the 39th minute but Dordt was thwarted the rest of the game as Doane put the game away with goals in the 70th and 74th minutes.
Dordt as outshot 19-6 overall and 9-5 on goal.
Logan Ganz had four saves in goal for the Defenders.
Doane put the pressure on early with 11 shots in the first half and they put five total on frame in the first half.
Durbin now has 22 goals this season which is tied for the second most all-time in Dordt College soccer history. Durbin has now matched Ray Middel (1987), Don Top (1982) and Tim De Groot (1981). Chris Hull holds the single season record with 26 set in 1991.
Dordt is 7-11 overall and 3-6 in the league while Doane is 8-7-1 overall and 5-4 in the GPAC.
Dordt will travel to Hastings to face the no. 1 seed Broncos on Thursday, November 3 at 7:00. The other quarterfinals round matches include: (5) Doane at (4) Morningside; (6) Northwestern at (3) Concordia and (7) Briar Cliff at (2) Midland.
