Dordt defeats Morningside 4-0
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt Defenders used a pair of goals by Alex Durbin and a pair of own goals by the visiting Morningside Mustangs to win a 4-0 decision in GPAC play on Tuesday afternoon in Sioux Center.
Durbin got Dordt’s scoring started with a goal off an assist by Cody Van Holland in the fifth minute and led 1-0 at halftime.
Dordt’s next two goals were own goals by the Mustangs in the 47th and 76th minutes, putting the Defenders up 3-0 before Durbin added his second goal on an assist by Stephen Brinkerhoff in the 79th minute.
-Dordt was outshot on goal 7-5 and each team had 12 overall shots.
-Travis Viet had seven saves to preserve the shutout.
-Durbin had four shots on goal and eight overall shots. He now has 20 goals this season is tied for sixth all-time at Dordt for a single season and is the most by a Defender in a season since 1991.
-Dordt improves to 6-9 overall and 2-4 in the league with three games remaining. Morningisde is 10-4-1 overall and 4-4 in the GPAC. Dordt travels to face Midland on Saturday.
