Jamestown defeats Dordt 4-2
HOW IT HAPPENED
A 2-1 halftime lead did not hold up as the Dordt Defenders lost to Jamestown in non-conference men’s soccer on Saturday afternoon in Sioux Center.
Dordt scored in the 6th minute with Alex Durbin scoring on an unassisted goal but Jamestown’s Nencho Margaritha score the equalizer in the 20th minute.
David Lee’s goal in the 40th minute put the Defenders up 2-1 at halftime.
Margaritho again scored an equalizing goal in the 50th minute and Jamestown’s leading goal scorer added two more in the 78th and 89th minutes to win the game for the Jimmies 4-2.
Dordt was outshot 12-9 on goal but the Defenders held a 17-15 overall advantage.
Travis Viet had seven saves in goal.
Nencho had six shots on goal for the Jimmies who are receiving votes in the national poll.
Durbin had four shots on goal for Dordt and scored his 10th goal while Lee scored his first goal of the season.
Dordt is 2-5 and opens GPAC play in one week at Hastings.
Jamestown is now 3-4.
