Dordt defeats Bethany 3-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dordt scored two second half goals on the way to a 3-1 win over Bethany (Kansas) in Sioux Center, Iowa, Friday afternoon.
Dordt scored in the 25th minute on a penalty kick by Alex Durbin after the Defenders surrendered a goal in the 16th minute off a header of a crossing pass.
Tied 1-1 at halftime, the Defenders got a Jason Seeley goal off a give from Durbin who drew the defense out for an easy chip in by Seeley and Chad De Graaf put the game away with a goal in the 86th minute.
THE NUMBERS
Dordt had an 18-6 shots advantage and a 10-4 shots on goal edge.
Durbin scored his fourth goal of the season and has a at least one goal in each of Dordt’s three games this year.
Travis Viet got the win in goal with three saves.
Bethany played a man down for the final 35 minutes due to a second yellow card issued to a player. In all 10 yellow cards were issued in the game.
Dordt is 1-2 this season and will host Presentation on Saturday, September 4 at 2:00.
