Dordt defeats Mayville State 11-7
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dordt never trailed in beating Mayville State in game two of their doubleheader on Tuesday, March 8.
The Defenders erupted for six run on three hits and capitalized on an error, two hit batsmen and two bases on balls.
Mayville State got on the board with a run in the third and two more in the sixth.
Dordt scored five runs in the sixth inning and looked like they were in front comfortably 11-3. Dordt scored their runs on four hits and an error in the inning with Taylor Neuroth getting a pair in on a single. Trent Roose also doubled in two runs with two outs to cap the inning.
Mayville State made it interesting with four runs on three hits in the seventh inning and the Comets had the bases loaded with one out but Cole Samuelson was able to record the final two outs on a pair of fly outs to finish the game.
-Dordt had a 10-9 hits advantage.
-The Defenders got multi-hit games from Jake Thayer, Cameron Gingerich, Connor Leppink. Both of Gingerich’s hits were doubles and he had two runs scored.
-Glen Thompson scored a pair of runs and Leppink, Trent Roose and Taylor Neuroth all had two runs batted in.
-Schyler Kane pitched six innings and struck out eight with six hits allowed.
-Cole Samuelson pitched one inning and allowed three runs on three hits.
