Lindenwood-Belleville defeats Dordt 3-0 (34-32, 25-21, 25-23)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dordt College battled the Lindenwood-Belleville Lynx on Friday night but came up short in a 3-0 match.
Set one went extra points as the two teams played side out volleyball from 24-24 to 32-32 before a Dordt attack error and a kill gave the visitors enough to secure the win.
Set two saw the visitors take the lead 12-11 on an attack error and they extended the lead to 19-16. Dordt got to within 21-19 but the Lynx put the match away with three kills out of the next four points for the 25-21 win.
The final set featured seven ties with Dordt battling back from a 14-9 deficit. An Eric Geels kill gave the Defenders a brief 19-18 lead but back to back Lynx points put them up 20-19. Dordt tied it at 21 and led 23-21 on a Mark Tiemersma kill and a Lindenwood-Belleville attack error. Back to back Dordt attack errors tied the set 23-23 and the Lynx won it with a kill at match point.
-Eric Geels had 10 kills and had a .429 kill efficiency with 12 assists.
-Mark Tiemersma and Kyle Vander Zee each had eight kills for Dordt and Austin Lindemulder had 16 assists.
-Kapu Mau had two of Dordt’s three ace serves.
-Nathan Struyk had a team high nine digs for Dordt.
-Lindenwood-Belleville had 47 kills and a .275 kill efficiency and was led by Taylor Tattersall and Jon Adlington each had 13 kills.
-Dordt had a .131 kill efficiency with 35 kills.

"This match was within reach and we needed to complete a few more plays in order to have some additional sets played. I'm pleased with our determination tonight. This week of play has been against great competition and I like how we have risen to the level of our opponent."
