The Dordt College track team competed in day one of the NAIA National meet in Gulf Shores, Alabama on Thursday. David Davelaar finished 16th overall in the hammer throw, with a daily best of 50.91 meters on his third and final throw of the day. Junior Kim Kroeze finished third in her heat and 14th overall in the 400 meter hurdle prelims with a time of 1:04.02. Danielle Wubben posted a top 20 finish in the Women's Long jump with a final leap of 17'2.25".
The highlight of day one was the women's 4x800 meter relay team of Kayla Byl, Kelsey Lewis, Nicole Slater, and Justine Van Zee that finished first in their heat, en route to qualifying for finals with the fourth best overall time and top GPAC time of 9:09.22. The group will compete tomorrow at 4:30pm for a shot at the NAIA title.
