The Dordt Defenders competed in day three of the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa on Saturday morning. 75. Justine Van Zee, Kayla Byl, Kelsey Lewis, and Nicole Slater had a strong performance in the women's 4x800M relay, posting the fastest time in the NAIA outdoor season so far, with a finish of 9:10.75. They finished fifth overall. The women's sprint medley team of Marisa Broersma, Joscelyn Wind, Miranda Velgersdyk, and Kim Kroeze finished 15th witha time of 4:23.54.
“The women’s 4 x 800 ran a great race in difficult conditions. They finished ahead of many strong teams and close to the front of the pack. It was a team effort with very even splits. The sprint medley were fun. Overall it was a very productive Drake Relays for our team," said head coach Craig Heynen.

The Defenders return to the track on May 6th and 7th in Hastings, Nebraska as they compete in the GPAC Championships. Dordt will end the season at the NAIA National Track meet in Gulf Shores, Alabama at the end of May.
