Concordia defeats Dordt 15-3
HOW IT HAPPENED
Concordia wore down the Dordt pitching game two of their doubleheader on Saturday afternoon, April 9 in Sioux Center for a 15-3, seven inning decision.
Dordt’s first runs came in the fourth inning when Glenn Thompson and Bryan Wallman singled and doubled and Josh Van Eps delivered a one out double to score both.
Down 4-2, Dordt allowed three run in the top of the fifth and Concordia broke through for another seven in the sixth before leading 15-2 entering the bottom of the seventh. Taylor Neuroth came in to score in the home half of the seventh on a ground out by Cameron Gingerich and the final ended up 15-3.
-Dordt was outhit 15-5 in the contest and the Defenders allowed 10 earned runs.
-Five different Defenders had a hit each.
-Brandon Fokkema dropped to 1-2 for the season with the loss and allowed seven runs—two of them earned in five innings of work and struck out three.
-Schyler Kane came on in relief and pitched two innings and allowed eight hits and eight runs with four walks and four strikeouts.
-Dordt is now 15-16 overall and 3-5 in the league while Concordia is 18-17 overall and 4-2 in the GPAC.
-Dordt will face Dakota State on Monday in Madison, South Dakota in non-conference play in a single, nine inning contest.
