Dordt defeats Nebraska Wesleyan 12-6
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dordt made it a sweep of Nebraska Wesleyan in GPAC baseball on Friday night in Sioux Center, Iowa. Dordt was a 12-6 winner in the nine inning contest.
Dordt scored on a Colton Van Otterloo walk with the bases loaded in the bottom of the first inning. Wesleyan answered with a run on two hits in the next inning but Dordt took the lead back immediately with Trent Roose knocking in Sebastian Meza with a single.
Leading 2-1, the Defenders scored three runs on two hits in the third inning as they capitalized on an error. Sebastian Meza had a run batted in along with Cam Gingerich.
Wesleyan cut two runs off the lead in the fifth but Dordt answered with three runs on a hit and an error in the home half of the fifth inning to extend the lead to 8-3.
Wesleyan got a run on two hits in the sixth but Dordt put the game out of reach with four runs on three hits. A Josh Van Eps grounded out but produced a run and Trent Roose also had a run batted in on a single.
-Dordt got two singles from Trent Roose with three runs batted in.
-Jake Thayer added two hits along with Colton Van Otterloo and Sebastian Meza. Meza scored three runs and Van Otterloo had two runs and a run batted in.
-Bryan Wallman scored two runs and had a hit and Connor Leppnink scored two runs with a hit.
-Dordt outhit Wesleyan 14-9.
-Michael Grady pitched eight innings and won his second decision of the year. Grady struck out eight and walked five with six runs allowed.
-Chris Schrieber pitched the final inning and gave up no runs on no hits.
-Dordt is 15-14 overall and 3-3 in the GPAC. Wesleyan falls to 11-15 overall and 3-3 in the GPAC.
-Dordt will host Concordia on Saturday at 1:00.
