Dordt defeats Nebraska Wesleyan 8-2
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dordt College snapped a five game losing streak with an 8-2 win over Nebraska Wesleyan in game one of the doubleheader on Friday afternoon in Sioux Center, Iowa.
Dordt scored four in the second inning on two hits, two walks and two errors. Connor Leppink delivered a run scoring single and Jake Thayer knocked in two with a single with two outs. Dordt also got a run on an error in the frame.
Connor Hopkins was in command most of the contest, retiring eight in a row before giving up two runs on four hits in the sixth inning.
Dordt got the runs back with four runs on five hits in the sixth with Thayer doubling in two runs again. Cam Gingerich and Trent Roose both had singles that scored runs.
Cole Samuelson came in to close the game and struck out a batter with no hits.
-Dordt outhit Nebraska Wesleyan 10-6.
-Jake Thayer was 3-4 with four runs batted in and had a double.
-Trent Roose was 2-3 with a run batted in.
-Josh Van Eps was 2-2 with two singles.
-Connor Hopkins got the win with six innings pitched with four strikeouts, two bases on balls and two earned runs.
