Dordt defeats Central Christian 4-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dordt scored four unanswered runs to overcome a 2-0 deficit and win 4-2 in game two of their doubleheader in McPherson, Kansas on Saturday, March 19.
Central Kansas struck first with two runs on three hits in the third inning and the hosts took advantage of an error as well.
The Defenders wasted no time in striking as Cam Gingerich had a single and Bryan Wallman followed with a single. Connor Leppink pushed the ball to the right side to move the runners up and Trent Roose’s sacrifice fly to rightfield scoreed Gingerich. Josh Van Eps singled and Christopher O’conner had a double that scored two.
A double play by Dordt ended a threat in the bottom of the fifth and Dordt got another inning ending double play in the sixth inning to end another threat.
Dordt got a run for insurance in the top of the seventh as Taylor Neuroth singled Colton Van Otterloo and Dordt’s starting pitcher Michael Grady worked a 1-2-3 seventh inning for his first win of the season.
-Dordt had a 7-5 hits advantage.
-Bryan Wallman had two hits and Josh Van Eps also had a pair of hits. Wallman scored a run while Colton Van Otterloo scored two as courtesy runner for Josh Van Eps.
-Michael Grady got the complete game win with two runs allowed on two hits, two walks and one strikeout.
-Dordt is 10-9 and will host Minnesota Morris on Friday and Saturday, March 25 and 26. Central Christian is now 14-18.
