Central Christian defeats Dordt 6-1
HOW IT HAPPENED
Central Christian scored two in the second inning and never trailed in defeating Dordt 6-1. Dordt got its run in the third inning with Sebastian Meza singling and advancing on an error. Jake Thayer then bunted to reach base. A double play took away the threat for a bigger inning but a run came in to score for Dordt to trim the lead to 2-1.
Central Christian got some room to breathe with a three run fourth inning on a pair of hits and stranded three runners as they could have blown the game open but settled for a 5-1 lead.
Dordt threatened but stranded two in the fifth and sixth innings and couldn’t break through as Central Christian got one more in the bottom of the fifth inning.
-Dordt had four hits with Meza, Glen Thompson, Gingerich and Thayer all getting singles and the Defenders got six total base on balls from six different players.
-Trent Roose started the game and took the loss with three and a third innings of work for the Defenders and was charged with five runs on five hits with two walks and five strikeouts.
-Schyler Kane pitched two and two-third innings of relief and allowed one run on five hits with two walks and three strikeouts.
-Dordt is 8-9 while Central Christian is 14-16. The two teams will play on Saturday in another doubleheader.
