Central Christian defeats Dordt 6-1

Central Christian scored two in the second inning and never trailed in defeating Dordt 6-1.  Dordt got its run in the third inning with Sebastian Meza singling and advancing on an error.  Jake Thayer then bunted to reach base.  A double play took away the threat for a bigger inning but a run came in to score for Dordt to trim the lead to 2-1.

Central Christian got some room to breathe with a three run fourth inning on a pair of hits and stranded three runners as they could have blown the game open but settled for a 5-1 lead.

Dordt threatened but stranded two in the fifth and sixth innings and couldn’t break through as Central Christian got one more in the bottom of the fifth inning.

-Dordt had four hits with Meza, Glen Thompson, Gingerich and Thayer all getting singles  and the Defenders got six total base on balls from six different players.

-Trent Roose started the game and took the loss with three and a third innings of work for the Defenders and was charged with five runs on five hits with two walks and five strikeouts.

-Schyler Kane pitched two and two-third innings of relief and allowed one run on five hits with two walks and three strikeouts.

-Dordt is 8-9 while Central Christian is 14-16.  The two teams will play on Saturday in another doubleheader.
