William Penn defeats Dordt 16-1
HOW IT HAPPENED
William Penn got out to a 10-0 lead after three inning and scored six more in the bottom of the fifth inning to defeat Dordt 16-1 in non-conference baseball play in Tucson, Arizona on Friday morning, March 11.
Dordt’s run came in the fifth inning with Jake Thayer singling in Chris O’Conner. A double play ended the threat on the next at-bat.
Dordt loaded the bases in the seventh inning but came away with nothing and dropped to 7-8 this season.
-Jake Thayer had three hits with the only run batted in.
-Bryan Wallman, Teddy Steffel and Christopher O’Conner all had a single each for Dordt.
-Trent Roose took the loss and went two innings and allowed six hits with a walk and a strikeout.
-Zach Zylstra was Dordt’s most effective pitcher with two earned runs allowed in two innings with three hits allowed.
-Dordt was outhit 16-6 and committed three errors.
