The no. 5 ranked Dordt College women's cross country team placed second at the annual Augustana Twi-Light Meet held at Yankton Trails in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The Defenders recorded 89 points to stay in front of Carleton with 99 and Doane with a 146 for fourth place. The hosts won the event with 46 points.

COACH WOLF SAYS
"The women started their season off well. They were led by a strong performance from Kayla Byl. The next four ladies ran strong, aggressive, and gutsy races. Erika Douma was very strong in her season debut," said Dordt College coach Nate Wolf.
-Leah Seivert won the event in 16:25
-the course was a three mile race.
-20 teams ran in the competition that has grown every year since it started and also features high school races.
-NAIA schools Doane, Morningside, Mount Marty, Northwestern, Midland, Dakota Wesleyan, William Penn and Briar Cliff competed in what has become the annual kickoff to the season.
-Dordt's team will run at a meet hosted by Dakota State next weekend, September 13.
