Dordt defeats Davenport 28-26, 26-28, 18-25, 25-18, 15-12
How It Happened
Set one was a tense battle with Dordt trailing until a Haley Moss kill put the Defenders up 27-26. Dordt followed with a Julia Lindbergh kill for a 28-26 win, ending a set that set that featured eight ties and a six point Davenport lead at 23-17. Aubrey Drake tied the set with an ace serve and Brooke Granstra tied it with a kill at 24-24 to set up the dramatic Dordt win.
Set two went the other way with Dordt leading 21-15. Davenport tied it at 23-23 on a service ace and the Panthers completed the reversal with a 28-26 lead in which they trailed until taking their first lead at 27-26.
Set three didn’t have much drama as the Panthers never relinquished the lead in taking a 25-18 win.
Set four had Dordt winning it 25-18 after a 15-15 tie had the set hanging in the balance.
Set five was a back and forth battle with Dordt trailing 12-11. Brooke Granstra tied it with a kill and Julia Lindbergh followed with a kill for a 13-12 lead. Ema Altena got the Defenders to match point with a kill and the Defenders won it with an attack error by Davenport.
By The Numbers
Dordt hit for a .254 kill efficiency and had 67 assists with 76 digs.
Granstra had 21 kills and hit for a .450 kill efficiency with seven digs.
Ema Altena had 20 kills and Julia Lindbergh added 12.
Summer Jansen topped Dordt with 20 digs and Jill Schouten had 13.
Jamie Gesink had 58 assists and 12 digs.
Aubrey Drake had three service aces and Abby Pollema had a pair.
Davenport’s Krissy Dill and Molly Lameyer each had 15 kills.
A Key Stat
Granstra and Moss each had seven block assists and Moss also had a solo.
