Indiana Wesleyan defeats Dordt College 25-23, 25-17, 25-20
How It Happened
The no. 25 ranked Dordt College Defenders were sluggish in their first match of the season and lost the decision to no. 17 Indiana Wesleyan at the Red Raider Classic in Orange City, Iowa on Friday afternoon, August 28.
Dordt’s attack was limited with Haley Moss putting down six kills and Brooke Granstra added five. It was a balanced attack for the Defenders with no getting more than 18 swings and no one in the five attacker offense getting less than ten.
Indiana Wesleyan had 17 more attacks and hit for a .121 kill efficiency compared to Dordt’s .033.
By The Numbers
Other than Moss and Granstra, Dordt got four kills each from Elizabeth Kiel and Julia Lindbergh.
Jamie Gesink had 19 assists and a pair of kills and 10 digs.
Summer Jansen got to 16 digs.
Granstra and Gesink had Dordt’s two ace serves.
Moss, Granstra and Ema Altena each had four block assists.
Kristin Predeajna put down a match high 10 kills for Wesleyan and Natassja Thomas had nine kills. Katy Holler put up 19 assists and Ashlen Buck had 11 digs.
The Key Number
Dordt allowed eight ace serves and had two of its own. Indiana Wesleyan did have nine service errors but Dordt was plagued by seven.
Dordt will face Kansas Wesleyan, a team that is receiving votes in the NAIA Poll late Friday evening.
