Dordt defeats Mount Marty 11-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dordt College scored early and often on the way to an 11-0 win over Mount Marty in men’s soccer on Tuesday afternoon, October 27.
Alex Durbin scored on goals in the fourth and eighth minutes on assists by Cody Van Holland and Shane Schaap. Jason Seeley followed with a goal in the 11th minute with Durbin assisting and Kyle Vander Zee got one in during the 19th minute off an assist from VJ Hachaba.
Hachaba’s goal in the 25th minute was off an assist by Durbin and Lucas VanderBerg scored in the 30th minute to make it 7-0 as Stephen Brinkerhoff and Durbin strung that together for a pair of assists. Durbin knocked one more in during the 33rd minute off an assist by Nathan Struyk and Struyk scored in the 35th minute off an assist by Lucas VanderBerg
Sun Lee was awarded a penalty kick in the 42nd minute and put it in and Kevin Grootenboer ended the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 50th minute.
-Dordt had a 13-7 shots on goal advantage and a 27-17 shots edge.
-Jack McCool had three saves in the first half of the contest.
-Travis Viet and Aric Aman played 30 and 15 minutes in goal in the second half with two saves each to preserve the shutout.
-Durbin’s three goals brings his season total to 11 and his four assists brings his total to seven.
-VJ Hachaba now has 13 goals this season .
-Dordt’s 11 goals are the most in a game for the Defenders since a 2012 win over Presentation.
-Dordt is now 5-9-2 overall and 2-6-2 in the GPAC. Dordt is finished with the regular season and must await results tonight and Saturday to determine if they make the GPAC post-season playoffs.
