HOW IT HAPPENED
A slow and lethargic first half gave way to an action packed second half as all the scoring was done in the second half.
The Defenders got a goal in the 49th minute when VJ Hachaba took a pass from Alex Durbin and put it past the keeper. In the 56th minute Alex Durbin made a change of direction move in front of the goal and put it past Jarod Schieler to lead 2-0. Nine minutes later Hachaba got his second goal off a rebound off the crossbar.
Judson averted the shutout with a goal by Walter Lopez off a penalty kick in the 68th minute but the Defenders put it away with a Durbin goal in the 86th minute.
BY THE NUMBERS
-For the second game in a row Dordt got two goals each from Hachaba and Durbin.
-Jack McCool made four saves in goal for the Defenders.
-Dordt had an 8-5 shots on goal advantage and a 14-7 overall shots advantage.
-The first half featured just two shots on goal by the Defenders and the two teams combined for 11 shots on goal in the second half.
-Jarod Schieler had four saves for Judson.
"I was pleased with our passing," said coach Craig Stiemsma. " We were able to control play a lot of the time. The defensive line did a tremendous job of neutralizing Walter Lopez. Lots of positives to take away from a team that was receiving votes in the NAIA National Poll."
-Dordt is 3-0 and will face Graceland on Saturday afternoon at 2:00. Judson will face Northwestern on Saturday and sports a 1-1-1 record.
