Hastings defeats Dordt 5-0 in women’s soccer.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Hastings scored twice in the first half and then tacked on three second half goals for a 5-0 win over Dordt in the GPAC opener for both teams.
Megan Kruse scored in the 9th and 16th minutes to get the Broncos in front 2-0 at halftime. Madison Knapp scored to make it 3-0 with a goal in the 49th minute and Kruse made it a hat trick in the 59th minute. Taylor Geis got the final goal in the 61st minute.
-Hastings had a 17-6 overall shot advantage and put 11 on goal to Dordt’s four.
-Four different players, Natalie Sakuma, Kenzie Bousema, Racquelle Mouw and Sarah Grubbs all had a shot on goal.
-Dee Felts made six saves in goal for the Defenders.
-All of Dordt’s shots came in the second half.
-Hastings improves to 4-4 overall and 1-0 in GPAC while Dordt is now 5-3 and 0-1. The loss ended Dordt’s four game winning streak.
-Dordt hasn’t been shutout since the season opener on August 21.
-The Defenders will travel to Dakota Wesleyan in GPAC play on Tuesday, September 29 and will face Concordia on the road on Saturday, October 3.
