Dordt defeats Nebraska Wesleyan 4-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dordt College never trailed in winning a GPAC contest with Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday in Sioux Center, Iowa.
Natalie Sakuma had a three goal afternoon as she started the scoring in the 31st minute as she knocked it in off the Wesleyan keeper. Marissa LeDuc followed with a goal in the 34th minute on a shot to the bottom left corner and the score stood to halftime.
Kori Fink got Wesleyan’s lone goal of the game in the 49th minute.
Sakuma scored 13 minutes later off a Kenzie Bousema assist and Sakuma added a goal for insurance in the 86th minute for a 4-1 final.
-Dordt had a 6-4 shots on goal advantage.
-Sakuma now has a team high 14 goals and has three multi-goal games and two hat tricks this season.
-Bousema has four assists and LeDuc five goals.
-Dee Felts had three saves in goal for Dordt and made two saves in the second half.
-Dordt is 10-6 overall and 5-4 in the GPAC. This is the sixth time this season Dordt has followed a loss with a win and the Defenders have not lost back to back games this season.
-Nebraska Wesleyan is 8-7 overall and 5-4 in league play.
-Dordt faces Mount Marty on Tuesday and the College of Saint Mary on Saturday, October 31 to conclude the regular season. Both games are on the road.
