Dordt defeats Doane 3-2 in overtime
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dordt got the equalizing goal in the closing minutes to send its contest with Doane to overtime and the Defenders eventually won it 3-2.
Dordt started the scoring with a Kenzie Bousema goal in the 28th minutes off an assist by Natalie Sakuma. Back to back goals by Doane followed in the 31st and 41st minutes to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead going into halftime.
After the break the Defenders were unable to break through until Tori Mann scored on an unassisted goal in the 88th minute. Sakuma then ended the game in the 95th minute with an unassisted goal.
-Dordt is now 9-5 overall and 4-3 in the GPAC.
-Dordt is 5-2 in games decided by one goal.
-Bousema’s goal was her sixth of the season.
-Mann’s goal was her third.
-Sakuma now has 12 goals and six assists which leads Dordt in both categories.
-Dordt had a 10-7 shots on goal advantage.
-Dee Felts got the win in goal while making five saves.
-Doane is 2-5 in the GPAC and 4-9 overall.
-Dordt is scheduled to host Northwestern on Wednesday, October 21.
-Dordt has four games remaining.

“We had a slow start but picked up the pace in the second half. Tori Mann's lofted goal was the momentum shift we needed to get to overtime and get the win,” said Dordt College coach Bill Elgersma.
