Morningside defeats Dordt 6-2
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dordt took a 2-1 lead midway through the first half but couldn’t hold the lead as the Morningside Mustangs score five unanswered to win 6-2.
Morningside started the scoring with a goal in the 12th minute from Merle Bublitz and Dordt got the equalizer on a Natalie Sakuma score off an assist from Kenzie Bousema. Bousema assed Marissa LeDuc in the 24th minute for a 2-1 lead.
Morningside tied it with Bublitz’s second goal in the 30th minute and the score stood 2-2 at halftime. The Mustangs scored four more in the second half with Bublitz scoring in the 70th minute and Amy Grause followed with a goal in the 73rd minute. Amy Samuelson put the game out of reach with goals in the 84th and 88th minutes.
-Dordt had an 11-9 shots on goal advantage.
-Natalie Sakuma’s goal was her 11th of the season.
-LeDuc’s goal was her fourth.
-Bousema now has three assists.
-Dordt is 8-5 overall and 3-3 in the GPAC. Dordt faces Doane on Saturday in GPAC play in Crete, Nebraska.
-Morningside is 5-1 in the GPAC and 9-3-1 overall.

"The women played well in the first half, coming into the second half even 2-2 but were unable to match the speed and skill of Morningside's midfield and front runners in the second half," said Dordt College coach Bill Elgersma.
