Dordt defeats Briar Cliff 6-0
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dordt College handled Briar Cliff 6-0 in GPAC women’s soccer play on Wednesday afternoon in Sioux Center, Iowa.
The Defenders scored four goals in the first half and started the onslaught in the 19th minute on an unassisted goal by Natalie Sakuma. Marissa Le Duc followed with a goal in the 31st minute off an assist by Nicole Postman and Dallas Parker added less than six minutes later on a direct kick from just outside the 18 yard box as she went top left corner. The pressure continued as an own goal by the Chargers was the result of another Dordt charge in the 38th minute.
Natalie Sakuma assisted Marissa LeDuc in the 71st minute for a 5-0 lead and Jalissa De Haan finished the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 89th minute to make the final 6-0.
-Sakuma has scored a season high eight goals and also leads the team with five assists in nine games of play. She has a team high 19 shots on goal.
-LeDuc has three goals this season.
-De Haan and Postman both recorded their first goals of the season in the win.
-Dordt had a 23-4 shots advantage and a 15-3 shots on goal advantage.
-Dee Felts made two saves and Dordt’s defense was also credited with a save to preserve the shutout.
-This is Dordt’s third shutout of the season and the Defenders have allowed just two goals in their last three games.
-Dordt is 7-4 overall and 2-2 in the GPAC and will host Midland on Saturday.
-Briar Cliff is 4-5-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the conference.

"We finally clicked. The women ran off the ball well and the ball found its way into the goal as a result. This was a great team effort.," said Dordt College coach Bill Elgersma.
