Northwestern defeats Dordt in football 47-7.

Dordt College played to a near stalemate with Northwestern most of the first half of the GPAC game between the two Sioux County schools before a turnover and touchdown swung the momentum with Northwestern winning the eventual 47-7 decision.

Northwestern started the scoring with a 78 yard drive that took six plays to complete and was capped by a 30 yard pass from Jonathan Kodama to Dominique Williams for a 7-0 lead with 8:31 left in the first quarter.

Dordt answered with an 8 play, 75 yard drive to tie the game as Xavier Caffee raced in from 25 yards out to tie it with the point after.  The scoring play was set up after Dordt executed a fake punt on a short snap to Loken Vande Vegte on fourth and 12 and Vande Vegte ran for 22 yards.  Caffee scored on the next play.

Northwestern capped the three possession series of scores with a 12 yard run by Kodama that put Northwestern up 14-7.

Dordt looked poised to tie the game late in the first half, getting the ball down to the Northwestern 20, but a fumble by Dordt on an option pitch and a recovery and return of 80 yards by Court Ecklund put Northwestern up 21-7 and the Raiders answered with another score with under a minute left to make it 27-7.

Northwestern put the game out of reach with three scores in the second half.  The first was set up by a fumbled kick return on the opening kickoff of the second half.  Sam Rall hauled in a 17 yard pass from Kodama for a touchdown on the first play from scrimmage and Jessie Riley added an eight yard run moments later.  Williams hauled in one final pass from 11 yards out to cap the Northwestern scoring with 13:06 remaining.
