The Concordia Bulldog softball team broke open its game with Dordt as they scored five runs in the fourth inning on the way to an 8-5 win over the Defenders.<p>
Concordia scored one in the first and two in the second for a 3-0 lead. Dordt responded with two runs in the third inning on an Ashton Beaird homerun that scored Corinne Valdix. <p>The two teams went scoreless in their next offensive frames with the Bulldogs erupting for five runs on six hits and an error in the fourth inning to take control of the game and actually missed out on an even bigger inning when they left the bases loaded.<p>
A Summer Jansen homerun came after a Michal Hoogland double and cut the lead to 8-4 and Beaird knocked in a run with a single in the seventh for the final of 8-5.<p>
Beaird was 3-4 with three runs batted in and Hoogland had three hits as well. Valdix had two hits as Dordt was outhit 13-11. Hoogland had two singles and a double while Baiearid was a triple away from hitting for the cycle.<p>
Samantha Dunn was the pitcher of record for Dordt and allowed eight runs on 12 hits with two strikeouts and two walks issued. Sidney Larson pitched two innings in relief and allowed and struck out two with one base on balls issued.
