Recap

The Dordt College Defender women’s cross country team won the GPAC Championship for the third season in a row with a 31 point performance at Wild Oak Golf Course near Mitchell, South Dakota. The Defneders used a tight pack to win the event by 52 points.

Kayla Byl finished third overall with a time of 18:01 and Lauren Opp and Justine Van Zee were fifth and sixth with times of 18:13 and 18:20 respectively. Dordt’s next two runners were right behind with Abby De Vries recording an 18:22 and Nicole Slater was ninth in 18:29.

Dordt’s sixth and seventh runners finished 11th and 13th respectively to push the other scores higher. Lillie Koerner and Erika Douma ran 18:38 and 18:41 to make the top-seven span for Dordt just 40 seconds.

Gabi Jenkins from Nebraska Wesleyan won the meet with a 17:42. 94 runners competed in the 11 team field on the 5,000 meter course.

Dordt returns to Rim Rock Farm near Lawrence, Kansas for the NAIA National Championship Meet to be run on Saturday, November 22.
