<p>The Dordt College men finished 10th at their first cross country meet of the season, the Augustana Invite, run Friday night, September 5 at Yankton Trails in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Dordt scored a 308 in the 22 team field with Nebraska winning the meet with a 41 and the University of South Dakota was second with 90 points.
Dordt was led by Stephan McNamara’s 19:58 time for 60th place. Steve Kelly, Adam Daane, Sam Wensink and Nick Vander Kooi were in a tight pack to round out Dordt’s top five runners. Kelly was 71st in 20:07; Daane 72nd in 20:10; Wensink 74th with a time of 20:11 and Nick Vander Kooi was right behind him in 75th place in 20:11 as well. Nathan Jackson and Ryan McNamara rounded out the Dordt field with times of 20:26 and 20:30 respectively for 100th and 104th place.
287 runners competed on the four mile course. Elisha Kipruto from Iowa Central won the race with an 18:24. The meet was run under unseasonably cool conditions for early September.
Dordt’s next meet will be in two weeks when the Defenders travel to Mitchell, South Dakota to compete in an event hosted by Dakota Wesleyan.</p>
