Dordt College earned a 3-0 win over Dakota Wesleyan in Great Plains Athletic Conference volleyball Wednesday night at the De Witt Gym in Sioux Center. Dordt bounced back from an early deficit in set one to win it 25-18 and then won in commanding fashion 25-16 and 25-13 in sets two and three.<p>
Dordt trailed 14-10 in set one and used a timeout. The Defenders responded with a six point run for a 16-14 lead as Brooke Wolterstorff, Heather Showers and Kayla Bartman all recorded kills for the final points in the run. Wesleyan did score a point to cut the difference to 16-15 but three straight points again by Dordt pushed the lead to 19-15. Jenna Horstman recorded three kills in the next six points to help Dordt to the seven point win.<p>
Set two featured three ties early before Dordt scored five unanswered to go up 11-5 and Wesleyan got no closer than four the rest of the set. Set three was all Dordt as the Defenders got up 12-4 and took the runaway win 25-13.<p>
Dordt hit for a .447 kill efficiency with 47 kills and just five errors in 94 attacks while posting six service aces and seven blocks. Jenna Horstman had 11 kills and Brooke Wolterstorff added ten. Haley Moss put seven kills down with Heather Showers adding six while Kayla Bartman and Elizabeth Kiel each had five. Bartman put up 31 assists and had five digs. Meghan Krausman had ten digs and three service aces while Summer Jansen had nine digs. Kiel was in on four blocks.<p>
Dordt is 15-10 overall and 9-5 in the GPAC with matches against Doane and Northwestern remaining in the regular season.
