Concordia, the no. 2 team in the country, took the lead for good in set two at 6-5 and Dordt was fighting from behind the rest of the set. The Defenders did get to within 17-15 when Meghan Krausman recorded a service ace. A service ace by Siri Nelson got the Defenders within 19-17 after back to back points by the Eagles but got no closer in the 25-19 decision.<p>The final set of the much featured seven ties before a Concordia kill gave the Eagles a 14-13 lead and they went on to take an eventual 17-14 lead. A Horstman kill slowed the momentum but the Eagles answered with three points in a row and the difference was more than enough as the Irvine, California based school prevailed 25-17.<p>
Brooke Wolterstorff had eight kills and eight digs in the loss while Kayla Bartman recorded 22 assists and six kills. Jenna Horstman put down six kills and Elizabeth Kiel had four kills. Meghan Krausman and Siri Nelson both had two service aces.<p>"We showed some great moments against the no. 2 team in the country. We also identified areas of growth with our attacking and defensive schemes. This is a wonderful tournament for us to start our season and we have plenty of great volleyball ahead in just our second week of being together," said Dordt College volleyball coach Chad Hanson.<p>Dordt is 0-1 and will face Vanguard (California) tonight at 6:00 (Central).
