<p>A slow offensive start and a swarming Dakota Wesleyan defense proved too much for Dordt Lady Defenders basketball team on Wednesday night in Great Plains Athletics Conference play, as they lost to the Tigers 86-41. The loss brings Dordt to a 6-7 overall record and a 0-6 mark in GPAC play.</p>
<p>Dordt was plagued by multiple turnovers in the early going, and after Katie Johnson converted a steal into an easy layup, Dakota Wesleyan found itself with a comfortable 21-3 lead just over ten minutes into the game. Dordt continued to struggle shooting from the field, and by the time freshman guard Teagan Manus managed to bank home a three-pointer, the Lady Tigers had extended their lead to 32-9 with 4:48 remaining in the first half. .</p>
<p>Playing from behind the rest of the way, Dordt managed a more efficient second half, improving their field goal percentage to 37.1% over the final twenty minutes, compared to an 18% shooting performance in the first.</p>
<p>Dakota Wesleyan, who improves to 8-4 and 3-2 in GPAC play, were firing on all cylinders, shooting 45.5% for the game, including a 11-23 from three-point range for 47.8%. Five different Lady Tigers notched double-figures in scoring. Kristin Sabers led the charge with 25 points on 10-14 shooting, as Erica Herrold added 13, Josie Huber and Ashley Bray scored 12 and Gabby Frybko chipped in 11.</p>
<p>The Defenders out-rebounded Dakota Wesleyan 43-40, including 14 offensive rebounds. However, no Dordt players managed double-figure scoring, as the home team was led by Abby Chapman and Robyn Blount who each had seven points. Mycah Hulst led Dordt with 10 rebounds.</p>
<p>Dordt will hit the court again Saturday, when they travel to Hastings, NE to take on the Lady Broncos of Hastings College in another conference affair set to tip-off at 2:00 PM. The Defenders return home again next week Thursday, December 18 at 5:00 PM to play Martin Luther in a non-conference battle.</p>
