Dordt bounced back from a loss earlier in the day with a 10-0 win over Valley City State on Friday afternoon to cap its Arizona trip.<p> The Defenders scored on in the first and then finished the game with nine runs in the sixth inning while outhitting Valley City State 7-2.<p>
Dordt got its first run on a wild pitch with Kassidy Van Voorst scoring after reaching initially on a single.<p>
Dordt had runners in the second, fourth and fifth innings before breaking through for nine runs in the sixth on five hits. Erica White had a three run homerun in the frame while Ashton Beaird had a single and Michal Hoogland knocked a run in with a single.<p>
Samantha Dunn went three and two-third innings and allowed two hits and struck out one with no walks issued for the win. Haley Fligge started the game and pitched two and a third innings with five walks and three strikeouts. <p>
Kassidy Van Voorst and and Ashton Beaird both had two hits and Bethany Dykstra, Erica White and Michal Hoogland all had one hit and White had four runs batted in.<p>Dordt is 2-12 and is scheduled to travel to the College of Saint Mary in Omaha, Nebraska on Tuesday, March 18 and Buena Vista in Storm Lake on Wednesday, March 19.
