Dordt College lost a 7-6 decision to Buena Vista in Storm Lake, Iowa in game two of their non-conference softball doubleheader on Thursday. <p>
Erica White doubled in a run in the first inning but the Beavers came back with two runs on two hits in the bottom of the first inning. <p>
Dordt evened it with Andrea Pierce knocking a triple that scored Samantha Dunn for a 2-2 tie. Buena Vista unlocked the tie with a run in the third. Dordt threatened in the fourth with two runners on but came away empty. <p>
Erica White pushed the Defenders back in front with a three run homerun that scored Kassidy Van Voorst and Bethany Dykstra. Ashton Beaird homered for the third time in the doubleheader and fifth time in three games for a 6-3 advantage. <p>
The hosts narrowed the lead to 6-4 with a run in the sixth inning and Dordt stranded two in the top of the seventh. <p>
In the bottom of the seventh the Beavers had a strikeout to start the game but a walk and a single started the threat. A single loaded the bases and a single scored a run. A wild pitch with the bases loaded tied the game and back to back walks ended the game with Buena Vista winning 7-6.<p>
Dordt outhit the Beavers 11-8 with Kassidy Van Voorst and Erica White each getting three hits. Ashton Beaird had a two hits. White had four runs batted in and Van Vorst had two runs scored.<p>
Haley Fligge took the loss with seven runs allowed on eight hits with six bases on balls and nine strikeouts.<p>Dordt is 4-14 overall while Buena Vista goes to 2-6. Dordt will be back in action on Tuesday, March 25 when they face Morningside in Sioux City.
