OBU Spring Festival
The Dordt College softball team was on the short end of an 11-0 decision against Baker (Kansas) on Friday, February 21 at an event hosted by Oklahoma Baptist in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
The Defenders allowed two runs in the first and another two in the second while falling behind 4-0. A three run, six hit frame in the third put the Wildcats up 7-0. Baker stranded five runners in the first three frames as well. After two scoreless innings Baker scored four more in the sixth to finish the game by virtue of the eight run difference rule after the sixth inning.
Dordt had three hits, all singles, one each by Ashton Beaird, Michal Hoogland and Sidney Larsen.
Larsen took the loss while allowing six earned runs with three bases on balls and two strikeouts. Katt Cooper was the winning pitcher with nine strikeouts and two walks issued and three hits.
Dordt was outhit 14-3 as the fell to 0-1 while Baker is now 3-3.
